About the Project

This food community app and website is a hub for food enthusiasts who want to discover new local restaurants, get inspiration for fun food experiences, and connect with their local community. We aim to connect users with high-quality food photography and authentic restaurant reviews, while also providing access to valuable discounts and coupons for restaurants.

Food4fun distinguishes itself from other apps by its primary function, enabling users to maintain personal rankings of their favorite restaurants and track the number of times they have visited each establishment.

Sitemap + Userflow

The app was created in the first 6 weeks and the website in the last 4 four weeks so the app maps and flows came first.

Rough Sketches & Paper Prototype

Creating a paper prototype allowed the main issues to be addressed early which was extremely helpful before moving onto the digital wireframes.

Visual Design System

Heading into this project, I knew I wanted to make an attractive, fun, inviting design in order to make the concept as appealing as possible. When it comes to food, appeal is extremely important -- so I put extra focus into the visual design and branding.

Digital Wireframes + User Testing

The first slide shows the process of the app and then scroll below to see the process of the website.

Involved in both were multiple rounds of user-testing as the prototype developed from low-fi to mid-fi.

Final Designs: Web

For the web portion of Food4Fun I chose to focus on creating an engaging onboarding experience and focus on the interaction animations.

Designing a mobile and web prototype for Food4Fun on my own let me explore new aspects of interaction design. Though there were areas I'd gladly spend more time on, this project was all about discovery, and it sparked a real passion for interactive design in me. This project was also featured in the Entelechy Showcase in the visual design category.
